CEB more than doubles flight frequency to Japan with daily Manila-Osaka flights

The Philippines’ leading low-cost carrier, Cebu Pacific Air (PSE:CEB) offers more than twice as much flights to Japan, when it begins operating daily Manila-Osaka-Manila flights on December 20, 2013.

CEB currently operates flights between Manila and Osaka every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. The additional four weekly flights will utilize CEB’s modern Airbus A320 aircraft. This translates to a seat capacity increase of 133%.

Osaka is the economic center of the Kansai region, and one of the most important cities in Japan.

“We are proud to offer more low-fare great-value flights to the Kansai region, as we continue with our commitment to boost tourism and trade between the Philippines and Japan. This is great news on Cebu Pacific’s 5th year of operations in Japan,” said CEB VP for Marketing and Distribution Candice Iyog.

Because of this, CEB holds a special Japan seat sale from October 4 to 7, 2013 through www.cebupacificair.com.

Passengers can buy PHP1 seats between Manila and Osaka, for travel from January 1 to June 30, 2014. Moreover, those traveling from November 1 to December 31, 2013 can buy PHP2,488 seats. Quoted fares are exclusive of government taxes and fuel surcharges. After the seat sale, lowest year-round fares start at P3,999.

Meanwhile, CEB remains bullish about the expansion of its operations to more key cities in Japan, especially after the Philippines-Japan Air Consultation Talks in Tokyo last month.

“The recently concluded air talks were very successful and will definitely pave the way for more direct linkages between the two countries. With more flights to the Philippines, we believe Japan can rival South Korea when it comes to foreign tourist arrivals,” Iyog said.

CEB offers flights to 22 international destinations, namely Bali, Bangkok, Beijing, Brunei, Busan, Dubai, Guangzhou, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Hong Kong, Incheon (Seoul), Jakarta, Kota Kinabalu, Kuala Lumpur, Macau, Osaka, Phuket, Shanghai, Siem Reap, Singapore, Taipei and Xiamen. It also operates the most extensive network in the Philippines with 34 domestic destinations and hubs in Manila, Cebu, Clark, Kalibo, Iloilo and Davao.

CEB’s 47-strong fleet is comprised of 10 Airbus A319, 27 Airbus A320, 2 Airbus A330 and 8 ATR-72 500 aircraft. It is one of the most modern aircraft fleets in the world. Between 2013 and 2021, Cebu Pacific will take delivery of 15 more brand-new Airbus A320, 30 Airbus A321neo, and 4 Airbus A330 aircraft.

Since its inception in 1996, CEB has flown over 80 million passengers. It continues to stimulate short-haul travel of passengers around Asia, with an 11% system-wide passenger growth in 2012.
