TOKYO LIGHTS 2023 Festival set to shine from September 8th to 10th

The 3rd annual ‘TOKYO LIGHTS 2023’ festival will be held at Meiji Jingu Gaien from September 8th to September 10th, 2023.

This year marks the 11th edition of the ‘1minute Projection Mapping Competition’, one of the world’s biggest projection mapping events. Highlighting the festival, this competition will be accompanied by the ‘Festival of Light Area’, showcase captivating light art and cutting-edge entertainment.

Moreover, in November 2023, a special exhibition will be held at the same location, bringing together past Grand Prize winners of the international competition. Similar to the September event, the Festival of Light Area will also be featured in November.

For this year’s event, the nationally renowned music band, GReeeeN, has taken on the role of the official ambassador. In the opening act, GReeeeN will convey a heartfelt message to the audience through their signature music performance.

GReeeeN Profile

GReeeN is a Guinness Record holding vocal group from Fukushima, comprising members HIDE, navi, 92, and SOH. All are licensed dentists and choose to remain anonymous due to their medical careers. They are now touring with their GReeeeN LIVE TOUR 2023 ‘The GAME’, showcasing 49 performances across Japan.

World’s Largest International Projection Mapping Convention

The‘1minute Projection Mapping Competition’ is an international competition where viewers can experience high-quality, unique works from global creators all at once. Each edition focuses on a unique theme, and competitors compete for the title of the year’s best in projection mapping pieces lasting from 1 minute to 1 minute 59 seconds. This year has seen a record number of 281 entries from 58 countries and regions participating.

An extraordinary, light-filled journey through a world of light in the Festival of Light Area


In the ‘Festival of Light Area’, visitors can experience a total of five light art and content areas. This includes the ‘LINK TOWER’, a light stage inspired by Tokyo’s skyscrapers and subway lines, and the ‘PLAY GROUND’, a nighttime playground using interactive programs that can be enjoyed by both children and adults.
