Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan Announces the Poll for The New JAS Mark Design

TOKYO, Sept. 5, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan is excited to announce the public voting for a new JAS Mark design started from September 4,2018 / JST.

The JAS Mark refers to logos that can be divided into two broad types, the so-called Circular JAS Mark that is widely known and displayed on items from soy sauce to forestry products, and logos for distinctive standards such as “free-range pedigree chicken meat” and “cured ham”. The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan will unify these logos for distinctive standards and establish a new JAS Mark. The new JAS Mark will be a logo that is used globally, and the design decision will be made by a popular vote in order to reflect the widespread opinions of people in Japan and overseas.

There are three designs for the new JAS Mark based on the following conditions:

  1. It can display, both in Japan and overseas, that the product or manufacturer has outstanding distinctive features
  2. It can be easily displayed in a limited area on packaging and printed in a single color
  3. It can be printed so that the details of the standard are within or around the design
