Comverge to Participate in Panel on Japanese Smart Grid Infrastructure Opportunities

NEW YORK, October 23, 2013 – Comverge, Inc. will participate in a panel to discuss trends in the development of smart grid infrastructure in Japan and beyond, as well as the opportunities and obstacles in these related markets. The panel brings together diverse perspectives from Comverge managing director David Ellis and members of the international business community, and will take place at the Japan Society in New York City on October 24, 2013. The session will also be available via a live stream to registered attendees.

Japan is home to one of the most efficient energy grids in the world, with distribution losses averaging less than five percent over the last 13 years. The country aims to become a pioneer in the development of smart grid infrastructure by investing in projects both locally and on a global scale.

As part of the Subsidy Program for Projects Promoting Japan, Comverge recently established a new regional research and development (R&D) operation in the country, with the help of Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. As a leading provider of demand response and energy management technologies, Comverge is well positioned to provide insights into Japan’s smart grid initiatives.

The panel will focus on projects in renewable generation, energy efficiency, energy storage, grid optimization, demand response, and more. The session will also highlight the substantial market opportunities for all technology providers to help Japan and other nations become truly energy-efficient and energy-secure.
