Dallas Chamber Symphony opens 2013-14 Season with the Solo-orchestral Debut of New Concertmaster

7-August-2013 –The Dallas Chamber Symphony will open its 2013-14 season with an exciting program featuring Kazuhiro Takagi, its new concertmaster, performing Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in D minor, at City Performance Hall on Tuesday, September 17th. The orchestra also performs Arvo Pärt’s Cantus in Memory of Benjamin Britten and Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings will round out the program.

Concertmaster Kazuhiro Takagi enjoys an international career as an experienced violin soloist, recording artist, and leader of orchestras. He has served tenures as concertmaster of the Tokyo Symphony, Chicago Civic Orchestra, and solo concertmaster of the Yamagata Symphony and Wuerttembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen in Germany. He has also held positions with the Osaka Philharmonic, Osaka Symphony, Japan Century Symphony, Vietnam National Symphony and the Kansai Philharmonic.

Mr. Takagi has deep roots in Dallas having studied violin performance at Southern Methodist University. He also holds diplomas from the Conservatoire National Suerieur Musique de Lyon and the Deuxieme Academie de Musique Francaise de Kyoto.

“After considering numerous candidates for the position, I was extremely impressed with Mr. Takagi’s body of recorded work, and especially his audition,” says DCS Artistic Director and Conductor Richard McKay. “He exhibits such extraordinary musicianship, and as an experienced leader, he has a keen sense of how to cultivate a professional organizational culture with the highest artistic standards. He is a tremendous asset for the DCS and the Dallas community.”

The event will be held on Tuesday, September 17th, 2013 at City Performance Hall (2520 Flora Street, Dallas, Texas 75201). It will begin at 8:00 p.m. Individual tickets are available for $19-$44 each, $12 for students. ABOUT DALLAS CHAMBER SYMPHONY
Launched in September 2012, the Dallas Chamber Symphony is the newest professional performance ensemble in North Texas. Led by Artistic Director and Conductor Richard McKay, it is comprised of close to 40 musicians, all dedicated to building a chamber orchestra whose mission is to perform a balance of programs that include underrepresented and standard repertory, contemporary music, staged works, and pieces with extra-musical elements, such as film, actors, dancers, and narrators.
