Fujitsu M10 Achieves World-Record Result on Two-Tier SAP SD Standard Application Benchmark

Tokyo, July 12, 2013 – Fujitsu today announced that the Fujitsu M10-4S running Oracle Database 11g set a new world record (as of July 12, 2013) on the two-tier SAP® Sales and Distribution (SD) standard application benchmark, achieving 153,000 SAP SD Benchmark users(1).

Fujitsu M10 (sold as SPARC M10 by Fujitsu in Japan) has achieved world records in the past(), namely on benchmark tests for integer arithmetic performance (SPECint_rate2006), floating-point arithmetic performance (SPECfp_rate2006) and memory access performance (STREAM Triad). This new benchmark result underscores that the combination of Fujitsu M10 and Oracle Database delivers excellent performance for mission-critical applications including the SAP ERP application.

The two-tier SAP SD standard application benchmark running SAP enhancement package 5 for SAP ERP 6.0 tallies the number of simulated users that simultaneously access the system and obtains a response within one second. This benchmark consists of typical tasks of real-world enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and represents practical performance achievable with mission-critical applications.

Fujitsu M10-4S with 40 SPARC64 X processors achieved the world-record result on the two-tier SAP SD standard application benchmark running Oracle Database 11g Release 2 Enterprise Edition and outperformed the second place result by more than 20%(). The breakthrough technologies in both hardware and software deliver an improvement in performance by approximately five times, compared with the previous model, the SPARC Enterprise M9000().

With the core-level CPU Activation feature and building block architecture, the Fujitsu M10-4S can be dynamically scaled in accordance with the growth of a customer’s business. This could be from an entry-level four-core 4U size system, all the way up to a world-record-breaking performance-level large-scale system. With this unique dynamic scaling, the Fujitsu M10 servers help customers to optimize their total cost of ownership (TCO).

This world-record performance is the result of decades of Fujitsu-Oracle partnership and represents Fujitsu‘s commitment to contribute to its customers’ business by providing an outstanding platform in collaboration with Oracle.
